Endo Kazutoshi Announces Opening Date for Kioku Restaurant at The OWO 

Reservations are now open for the new rooftop restaurant with 360 degree views across London.

Kioku Restaurant will be a unique Japanese restaurant, intertwined with a hint of Mediterranean influence following Endo’s culinary journeys, including his time spent living around the Mediterranean.

The restaurant features a 55-seat main dining room, an 8-seat Chef’s Table overlooking the kitchen and an exclusive 8-seat private dining room within one of the building’s iconic turrets. In addition, there will be a 55-cover outside terrace as well as a piano in the main dining room showcasing weekly live performances.

Culinary Director Endo Kazutoshi, said: “The menu at Kioku echoes points in my life that have shaped my culinary journey, from a hotel in Yokohama to the tastes and flavours of Spain. I hope to bring food and designs that make you feel at home and welcome into mine“.

The Brush Grand Cafe Opens This Week

Coming to the ground floor of the new art’otel, Hoxton, The Brush Grand Café is an elegant all-day restaurant, lounge and cocktail bar. The bright, floor-to-ceiling windowed space takes inspiration from the timeless, laid-back Grand Cafes of Vienna and Paris in a contemporary setting, with large-scale artwork from the hotel’s signature artist, Dean Stockton, better known as D* Face, adorning the walls.

The Brush’s menu will celebrate the breadth of classic European cuisine, championing the best loved flavour profiles from across the continent. Executive Chef Ryan Matheson’s all-day menu is reminiscent of Europe’s iconic cafés with simple yet refined cooking at the heart. Upstairs, on the first floor, The Brush Lounge & Cocktail Bar will provide a space for guests to settle in for cocktails, snacks and live music by night.

Outside, a large 70-cover terrace (due to open later in 2024), will create an oasis in the heart of London.

Michel Roux to Open Restaurant at The Langham

This month, Michel Roux will open a new restaurant, Chez Roux, in Palm Court at The Langham, London. It will present a unique opportunity for guests to experience Michel Roux's cooking in London, with contemporary, refined dishes that showcase historical British classics and traditional French cooking methods.

Chez Roux has been inspired by the time when the Roux family, moved to the UK in the '50s. During this time, Michel Roux’s father, Albert, and uncle, Michel Sr, both cooked in the private houses of England’s elite, serving everything from family lunches to grand dinner parties.

Plant-based Mildreds Arrives in Victoria

This month sees the opening of Mildreds, the iconic plant-based restaurant, on Wilton Road, Victoria. Having been a trailblazer in the London food scene since 1988, Mildreds will bring their internationally inspired dishes to a stunning new restaurant that boasts a 30-cover outdoor terrace, countertop bar and new spring and pre-theatre menus.

Inside, the spacious 100-cover restaurant invites guests to delight in leisurely breakfasts, lunches, vibrant dinners, and weekend brunches, all under the creative guidance of Chef and Food Director Sarah Wasserman. It can also host large group bookings of up to 30 guests, perfect for after work drinks, birthday parties and gatherings with friends.

Pasto Pronto Classes

Sauce by The Langham, the cookery school at The Langham, London overseen by Chef Michel Roux, is running Pasta Pronto classes, allowing aspiring cooks to master the technique of making fresh pasta from scratch.

These classes give guests the chance to make delicious handmade pasta set amidst Sauce by The Langham’s rustic, farmhouse-style cookery school kitchen. Participants will be taught the skills to mix, roll and shape the dough as well as tips to master different pasta sauces. 

The class concludes in the Pantry dining room where all participants will have the chance to taste their pasta served with seasonal sides, a glass of wine and a family-style dessert.  

Priced at £145pp and taking place from 6:30pm to 9pm, the Pasta Pronto cooking classes include two Italian cocktails, a recipe pack from the day, a Sauce by The Langham apron, cloth and tote bag.

all’onda opens in Fitzrovia

A new fine dining destination opened its doors Charlotte Street, this week.

An Italian phrase meaning ‘on the wave’, all’onda refers to the risotto-making technique which sees rice gently tossed in a pan to create a smooth, flowing texture reminiscent of waves. The restaurant will draw on its namesake to showcase a series of refined risottos, using the classic Italian dish as a springboard to explore seasonal flavours and textures.

Founder is Cordula Schulz, with Head Chef Andrea Granzarolo leading the kitchen - bringing with him an elevated, ingredient-centric precise approach, honed at fine dining restaurants including a six year tenure with Hélène Darroze, as well as The Greenhouse and The Square. General Manager Marco Montalbano joins from Muse by Tom Aikens and will oversee the front of house.

New Rooftop Bar for Central London

Circe’s Waterloo Rooftop Bar (pronounced sir-see’s), named after the mythical goddess, will launch its new 550-capacity rooftop bar this month. Based high in the clouds above the bustling streets of Waterloo on the four-story Mercury House rooftop, guests are invited to lounge on the sun-soaked rooftop and experience the allure and magic of Circe’s vibrant cocktail and food offerings.

Entertainment will include nightly live music performances, guest DJ sets, and themed brunches. The first event, 'Oh My Gods!’ Bottomless Brunch, a regular fixture on the events rota, will take place from Saturday, June 1st.

New Sri Lankan Restaurant for Putney

Chef and restauranteur Sylvia Perera is set to open her second Colombo Kitchen, in Putney.

If you haven't been to the original restaurant, then the hoppers (thin bowl-shaped pancakes) are what you're really coming to Colombo Kitchen for, along with hoppers and kottu (chopped up roti, stir-fried with chicken, vegetables and egg), which are cooked in an open kitchen in front of customers. 

The new branch comes four years after the opening of Colombo Kitchen in Worcester Park and takes over the space that used to be Holy Cow.

When: Due to open Thursday, 16th May.

The Dining Room at The Goring to Relaunch

The Michelin-starred restaurant at The Goring is set to relaunch later this month, revealing a feast for the eyes and appetites of guests. Opulent new interiors by Russell Sage Studio will be unveiled, alongside a state-of-the-art kitchen, fresh seasonal menus and a revived dining experience.  

A whimsical, theatrical and fun atmosphere will permeate The Dining Room, with lively music, witty design details, and artful service. Showstopping trolleys will glide through the space, providing tableside delight in the form of classic Champagne cocktails, sharing dishes of Beef Wellington and Stuffed Turbot, and head-turning Rum Baba Flambé. A skilled team of sommeliers will be on hand to guide diners through an extensive wine list, ensuring the perfect match for every occasion.
